Cincinnati Country Day School is a private college preparatory school serving students through the 12th grade. Since 1926, Cincinnati Country Day School has provided an innovative education that prepares students for success in college and life.
Cincinnati Country Day School boasts a large 62-acre campus with six buildings, an amphitheater, two gymnasiums, seven athletic playing fields, a swimming pool, tennis complex, theater and Early Childhood House.
With this many destinations, a detailed campus map was required for navigation. Unfortunately, the only existing campus map was outdated. ASI was contacted with the request to refresh campus signage with an emphasis on two areas – navigation with an updated campus map and refreshing the campus’ main ID.
About the Solution
ASI used a combination of existing maps, Google Maps and site surveys to create the new campus map. The color palette was based on the Notre Dame color scheme, which the client had noted as a source of inspiration for the project.
Each campus map was oriented so that, when installed, the map lays flat in the direction that the user is standing.
For the main ID update, the school maintenance staff painted the stucco base and surround of the existing sign. As it could not be internally illuminated due to strict zoning, ASI supplied painted aluminum panels with white reflective vinyl to illuminate the text in car headlights.
The signage upgrades are improvements that modernize the campus, making it more navigable and welcoming. The campus map is now also utilized in brochures and on the client’s website.
