Our Lady of the Lake Children’s Hospital in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, is a new 5-story facility thoughtfully designed to meet the needs of its patients – children.

With more than 24 pediatric specialties and over 360,000 square feet, Our Lady of the Lake Children’s Hospital is the region’s only Pediatric Level II Trauma Program and 24/7 pediatric ER. The hospital currently treats more than 100,000 patients annually from Louisiana, Mississippi, Texas and Arkansas.

The hospital is home to a unique pediatric transport team that aids patients in traveling to Baton Rouge. This model of coordinated pediatric healthcare extends the vital work of Our Lady of the Lake Children’s Hospital into more communities, allowing families across the region to have easy access to medical expertise.

About the Solution

ASI was tasked with implementing an organized, easy to navigate wayfinding solution for the hospital. After consulting with the client, it was important to also incorporate special elements designed with children in mind.

ASI’s vibrant signage package consists of color-coordinated hospital areas to aid visitors in navigation. Each color theme symbolizes a different part of Louisiana’s ecosystem, with the Mississippi River and the swamplands represented – even the floor has a stunning, fresh blue finish.

As visitors and patients walk through this facility designed for children, the architectural signage both effectively guides and enhances the hospital environment.
