3D Printing

About 3D Printing

3D printing is revolutionizing the world of graphics and signage, making it easier and more affordable to produce high-quality signage with custom, intricate graphics that stand out and capture people’s attention.

With its versatility and affordability, 3D printing is a tool for creating high-quality, custom, and impactful signage that helps businesses and organizations communicate their brand and message to the world.

Advantages of 3D printing include:

Visual Appeal: 3D printed signage adds depth and dimension. Raised textures and graphics create a striking visual impact that enhances a space’s overall look and feel.

Customization: 3D printing allows for virtually unlimited customization options. Businesses and organizations can create signage that is unique to their brand or message.

Cost-Effective: 3D printing lowers the cost of producing custom signage. 3D printing uses less material, requires less labor, and can produce complex shapes and designs quickly and accurately.

ASI’s standard process for creating 3D printed signage resulted in a product line called 3D Form. ASI’s 3D printing process efficiently creates ADA-compliant letters and Grade II braille as well as raised texture design accents for interior signage using UV inks with zero VOCs.

Raster Braille

About Raster Braille

Raster braille is a specific method for producing tactile Braille signage. This method involves drilling small holes into the sign substrate and then inserting spherical beads, called rasters, into those holes to form the Braille dots. The beads are secured in place, providing a stable and durable Braille character.

Advantages of raster braille include:

Durability: The beads or rasters, often made from materials like acrylic or stainless steel, are securely inserted into the signage, reducing the chances of the Braille dots wearing out or becoming damaged over time.

Precision: The method allows for precise placement of the Braille dots, ensuring that they’re correctly spaced and easily readable. Raster braille has an especially clean and consistent appearance.

Versatility: This method can be used on a variety of sign materials, including plastics and metals, allowing for a broad range of design options.

ASI’s standard process for implementing raster braille is called InTac™. Applied to a wide variety of substrates, the process involves applying computer-cut tactile lettering and raised graphics and inserting machined and pressed Grade II Braille.

Photopolymer

About Photopolymer

Photopolymer is used as a medium to produce raised graphics, text, and Braille through a process that involves a single sheet of photopolymer. The sheet is photoetched through exposure to UV light, which hardens select areas of the sign, leaving behind the raised design.

Advantages of photopolymer include:

Durability: Photopolymer signs are especially durable since the raised elements are formed directly on the sign. Once cured, photopolymer signs are durable and resistant to bending, warping, or chipping.

Tactile Precision: Photopolymer allows for the creation of sharply defined, tactile graphics, texts, and Braille, which is essential for ADA-compliant signage.

Consistency: Due to the precision of the process, multiple signs can be produced with consistent quality, ensuring uniformity across signage in large facilities or franchises.

ASI’s standard product using photopolymer is called InTouch™. This signage solution is rated for both interior applications. InTouch™ is ideal for solutions that require a wide range of colors, profiles and raised details. The tactile lettering and Grade II Braille are integral to the surface of the sign.
