Freestore Foodbank’s new distribution center represents a significant investment in the organization’s ability to serve individuals and families throughout the Greater Cincinnati region. As part of the new facility, Freestore Foodbank wanted to create a prominent recognition feature honoring the donors and organizations whose support helped make the project possible.
ASI was engaged early in the process to collaborate on the design and execution of a large-scale donor wall that could recognize a wide range of giving levels while becoming an architectural focal point within the facility. The solution needed to balance individual recognition with a cohesive overall composition.
The completed donor wall transforms recognition into an integral part of the facility itself. The installation creates a lasting visual expression honoring the people and organizations behind Freestore Foodbank’s mission.
About the Solution
ASI developed a layered recognition system approximately 30 feet wide and more than 20 feet tall. Custom acrylic panels are arranged at varying depths across the wall, creating visual movement, while dimensional lettering is scaled to distinguish different levels of giving and establish a clear hierarchy of recognition.
The scale and location of the installation introduced several fabrication and installation challenges. Uneven concrete surfaces required careful field coordination, while structural conditions and a prominent stairway directly in front of the wall complicated access and placement. ASI addressed these conditions through detailed site surveying, engineering, and phased installation planning to ensure the individual components aligned precisely across the large feature wall.
